Unique characteristics of the bay
The natural shelter between Guaza and Chayofita forms a unique coastal amphitheater. Thanks to its orientation and relief, the waves are considerably softened and the wind loses strength, turning the body of water into a kind of natural pool for much of the year. Therefore, families, swimmers, and paddleboarding enthusiasts coexist here without crowding.
Beyond its beauty, the bay is part of a remarkable marine ecosystem: more than twenty species of cetaceans have been identified in its waters, with bottlenose dolphins and tropical pilot whales being regular sightings. Consequently, responsible whale watching excursions set sail daily from the port. At sunset, the landscape transforms completely: the sky is painted orange over La Gomera —visible on clear days— and warm tones bathe the entire promenade.
The two beaches of the bay
Two extensive, well-equipped, and accessible beaches encompass most of the tourist activity. The Los Cristianos Beach, north of the port, is noted for its golden sand, family-friendly atmosphere, and proximity to traditional restaurants.
