San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the World Heritage City

San Cristóbal de La Laguna is the former capital of Tenerife and one of the cities with the most historical value in Canary Islands. Founded in 1496, its colonial urban layout was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999. How to get to La Laguna

The Tenerife North Airport is within the municipality, just 10 minutes from the center by car. From Santa Cruz de Tenerife you arrive in 15 minutes via the TF-5 highway. The tram connects both cities with frequent schedules.

From the south of the island, La Laguna is an hour away via the TF-1 and TF-5. There are also frequent TITSA buses from major points of Tenerife.
