Façade of the Auditorio de Tenerife, designed by Santiago Calatrava, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Auditorio de Tenerife: Opera, Ballet and Music

The great opera stage in Tenerife is the Auditorium of Tenerife Adán Martín, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Although it is often believed to be named after a musician, Adán Martín was not a composer: he was the president of the Government of the Canary Islands and of the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the auditorium was named in his honor after his passing.

An icon of Calatrava by the sea

Designed by architect Santiago Calatrava and inaugurated in 2003, the auditorium has become one of the symbols of the capital of Tenerife. Its large white wave-shaped roof rises alongside the sea, near the Maritime Park, and is one of the most photographed images of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Opera, music, and dance

The building features a symphonic hall and a chamber hall. It is the home of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and hosts the Tenerife Opera season every year, as well as concerts, dance, festivals, and educational activities for all audiences.
