Los Andenes Viewpoint: La Palma from the heights

The island of La Palma is an ideal destination for those seeking unique nature and landscapes. Among its most spectacular viewpoints is the Los Andenes Viewpoint, located at about 2,000 meters above sea level, very close to the Roque de los Muchachos, the highest point on the island.

Where is the Los Andenes Viewpoint

The viewpoint is located in the northern mountain area of La Palma, on the edge of the Taburiente Caldera, alongside the road that climbs to the Roque de los Muchachos and the astrophysical observatories. Due to its altitude, it often rises above the sea of clouds.

What can you see from the viewpoint?

From this natural balcony, some of the best views of the island can be enjoyed:

  • The interior of the Taburiente Caldera, with its vertical walls and pine forests
  • The course of the Barranco de las Angustias, the great natural outlet of the Caldera to the sea
  • To the north, the Integral Natural Reserve of Garafía Pine

Tips for your visit

The Los Andenes Viewpoint is a must-stop if you're heading to Roque de los Muchachos. Keep in mind that temperatures at the peaks are much lower than at the coast, and in winter there may be ice or even snow, so it's advisable to wear warm clothing. The best views usually occur early in the morning before the clouds rise.
