Tazacorte La Palma is the smallest municipality on the island by area but one of the richest in history and character. Located on the southwestern slope directly facing the Atlantic, it has a tough title to beat: it is the municipality with the most hours of sunshine in all Spanish territory. With just 5,000 inhabitants, a fishing port that was the first on the island, and a historic center surrounded by banana plantations, Tazacorte condenses a lot of history in very few square kilometers.
