What is the Cueva del Viento in Tenerife?

The Cueva del Viento, located in Icod de los Vinos, is the longest volcanic tube in Europe and the fifth longest in the world. This natural space was formed thanks to the flows from Pico Viejo, near Teide, and offers a unique experience to understand volcanism and observe lava formations beneath the earth's surface.

With over 17 kilometers in length, the cave has three different levels of corridors and unique geomorphological phenomena, such as sinkholes, terraces, and whimsical structures created by solidified lava.

Features of the Guided Tour

The visit to the Cueva del Viento lasts approximately three hours and is conducted in small groups of a maximum of six people accompanied by a guide. In addition, wearing a mask is required throughout the tour.

The route includes a walking journey from the visitor center to the entrance of the cave. This easy trail is 1.1 kilometers long with a 200-meter elevation gain. At the end of the visit, you return by the same path.

The cave visit is available in Spanish, English, German, and French, with a price of 20 euros for adults and 8.50 for children over five years old, although for Canary residents, the price is reduced to 10 and 5 euros, respectively.

Councillor Concepción Rivero details that "it has been necessary to adapt and implement the necessary health protocols to make this space safe for our visitors and, for this reason, a reservation system has been established through the website, limiting group capacity to a maximum of six people who must also wear masks throughout the tour."

Current Health Measures
