Located in the middle of the capital we find the Playa de Santa Cruz de La Palma, a blanket of fine black volcanic sand that contrasts with the blue Atlantic Ocean and enhances the beauty of a city that has been declared in its entirety as Bien de Interés Cultural.

This beach, of artificial origin, was inaugurated in April 2017 as an improvement of the historic beach of callaos and pebbles known as Caleta del Varadero.

The main objective of this work was to recover the accessibility and mobility that had suppressed the construction of the old promenade half a century ago (1949).

The result is a beach 1230 meters long and 50 meters wide that has a low occupation throughout the year and allows it to be very easy to enjoy this beautiful beach and its incredible sunrises.

The beach is enabled for swimming, beach volleyball, beach football (in summer), children’s games and all kinds of water sports.

About the beach we can find more than 100 parking spaces although it is also possible to arrive by bus.

The accesses to the beach are well signposted and to facilitate inclusion it also has access for the disabled.

The beach has several public services including toilets, showers, footbaths, litter bins and of course a marine rescue team that will signal any kind of danger.

From the beach you can see the Castillo de Santa Catalina, a fortress dating back to the 17th century and built for the defense of the city from corsair attacks, after all it is Santa Cruz de la Palma where the island’s commercial port is located.

Other treasures are hidden in the fabric of the city, streets in which it seems that time has stopped, are treasures of an architectural nature every corner seems to be the perfect photo, so don’t forget your camera when you visit Santa Cruz de la Palma.
