MUNICIPALITY OF SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE
The Avenida Tres de Mayo is the second largest avenue of the city and of Canarias, a public road located in the center of the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and unmistakable symbol of the economic growth of the island, as it houses one of the most important shopping areas.
The Avenue is named in commemoration of the founding of the Villa de Santa Cruz on 3 May 1494, the day of the Santa Cruz after the landing of Alonso Fernández de Lugo in what today would be the Puerto de la ciudad.
In the past, the pedestrian walkway between the tracks did not exist and instead had three lanes of traffic in each direction, but this changed when work was carried out on the underground tunnel that runs through it connecting with the North and South motorways and relieves a lot of traffic in the city.

At Avenida Tres de Mayo also stands a skyscraper 85 meters high and designed by the architect Carmelo Rodríguez Borrella for the Chamber of Urban Property of Santa Cruz de Tenerife which was inaugurated, as it could not be otherwise, on May 3, 1974 and boasted of being the tallest building in the city until the construction of the Torres de Santa Cruz.
Hotel Silken Atlántida is located in the financial and commercial centre of Santa Cruz and features glassed-in lifts with panoramic sea views, a rooftop terrace and rooms with free Wi-Fi, gym, solarium, saunas, whirlpool baths and an excellent restaurant where you can sample traditional Canarian specialities and a varied wine list.
The Hotel Atlántida is a 15-minute drive from the Beach of Las Teresitas and a 10-minute drive from Tenerife North Airport.
