The pier of El Médano borders the famous Plaza de Piedra and runs perpendicular to the Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello, Playa Chica and Plaza Roja.
This area has numerous bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the tranquility of the sea. This camera offers a beautiful view of the sea from the Centro de Actividades lúdico-deportivas El Médano, or also known as, the Espacio Multifuncional M3 El Médano Magallanes.
The Montaña Roja, an area frequented by lovers of nautical sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing
The beach El Médano, is one of the best known beaches on the island of Tenerife.
As its name suggests, it is a beach located right in the town of El Médano, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona and about 40 minutes drive from the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
El Médano is one of the most charming beaches in the south of Tenerife, both for lovers of water sports, as for lovers of sun, beach and relaxation.
The perfect beach to spend a day with family or friends, enjoying the views and tasting the exquisite Canarian gastronomy in the surrounding restaurants.
The beach also has the Blue Flag distinction, which guarantees high quality services and optimal water conditions for bathing.
El Médano beach, located in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, stands out for the beauty of its fine grey sand and the majestic view of the Montaña Roja volcanic cone.
If you walk along its magnificent long promenade that runs from end to end, as you go along you’ll find a multitude of surf shops, restaurants and cafes, in a very cosmopolitan atmosphere.
The furthest area of the town is ideal for windsurfing and kitesurfing. World-renowned championships such as the World Windsurfing and Kitesurfing Championships are often held on this beach.
La Playa de Leocadio Machado, also located near the pier along with Playa Grande el Médano, is the highest point for windsurfers and kiters in Tenerife, so on good days you can see a multitude of colourful sails on the water and in the air.
However, the wind conditions are extremely demanding and only suitable for advanced skiers. If you don’t surf yourself, you can watch the lively hustle and bustle in the water from land, but it’s best to move to the neighbouring, more sheltered El Medano town beach for a leisurely swim and sunbathe.
