Its lava fields, craters, and black beaches look like they are from another planet, which is why they have attracted directors from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-rodajes-que-han-hecho-historia\">Films that have made history<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>A Million Years Ago<\/em> (1966)<\/strong>: the famous prehistoric adventure film starring Raquel Welch filmed some of its most memorable scenes in Lanzarote, amidst volcanic landscapes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Enemy Mine<\/em> (1985)<\/strong>: the science fiction film by Wolfgang Petersen used the island\u2019s lava landscapes to recreate a hostile planet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Doctor Who<\/em><\/strong>: the legendary British series filmed in Lanzarote in 1984 and returned in 2014, alongside the lava fields of Timanfaya.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Broken Embraces<\/em> (2009)<\/strong>: Pedro Almod\u00f3var filmed in La Geria, El Golfo, the Cactus Garden, and Timanfaya. The story, according to the director himself, was born from a photo of a couple embracing on the beach of El Golfo.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><em>Dark Christmas<\/em> (2026)<\/strong>: Almod\u00f3var returned to the island to shoot his latest film, with scenes in La Geria, El Golfo, and a villa in La Asomada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-turismo-de-cine\">Film tourism<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, touring the filming locations is a different way to discover Lanzarote.
