Santa Cruz de Tenerife Spain square is located in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, capital of Tenerife. It is the largest square in the Canary Islands. It was built in 1929 on the ruins of the Castle of San Cristóbal, an important fortification for the defense of Santa Cruz against piracy. Nowadays it is possible to visit some of its walls accessible through an underground gallery located under the square. It borders to the north with the Piazza del Pioppetto of the Duce di Santa Elena, to the south with the Post Office buildings and the Regional Council of Tenerife, to the east with the maritime avenue and the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and to the west with Candelaria square and the Casinó de Tenerife. The square has been renovated by the famous architects Herzog & Meuron as part of the Muelle-Ciudad project. In the center we find a huge sea water lake with a fountain in the central area. The lighting consists of lights that simulate water droplets of different sizes. “Santa Cruz de Tenerife Spain square”
