Adem\u00e1s de su valor natural, tiene un gran peso en la historia y la cultura de las islas. Crece de forma natural en <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/webcams-von-teneriffa\/\">Teneriffa<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/webcams-von-gran-canaria\/\">Gran Canaria<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/webcams-la-palma\/\">La Palma<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/kameras-von-la-gomera\/\">La Gomera<\/a> und <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/kameras-von-el-hierro\/\">El Hierro<\/a>. Entre todos destaca el <strong>Drachenbaum von Icod<\/strong>, que cient\u00edficos y artistas admiran desde hace siglos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1799, el naturalista Alexander von Humboldt describi\u00f3 el gigantesco Drago de Franchy, en La Orotava, que desapareci\u00f3 en el siglo XIX. M\u00e1s tarde, la pintora Marianne North retrat\u00f3 el drago de los jardines del <a href=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/de\/el-jardin-de-los-hermanos-little\/\">Sitio Litre<\/a>, en Puerto de la Cruz. Gracias a estos testimonios, el drago se convirti\u00f3 en un <strong>internationalen Symbol der Kanarischen Inseln<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"208\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-63.png\" alt=\"Drago joven con hojas largas y afiladas en un jard\u00edn con c\u00e9sped y otras plantas\" class=\"wp-image-143438\" style=\"width:224px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adem\u00e1s del Drago Milenario de Icod, hay otros ejemplares notables en Tenerife, en municipios como Los Realejos, Tacoronte y La Laguna, y tambi\u00e9n en Garaf\u00eda, en La Palma. En Gran Canaria, por su parte, vive la <em>Dracaena tamaranae<\/em>, un drago exclusivo de la isla. Los bot\u00e1nicos la describieron como especie nueva a finales del siglo XX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1991, el deseo de proteger la flora canaria llev\u00f3 al Gobierno de Canarias a declarar el drago <strong>Pflanzensymbol von Teneriffa<\/strong>. Este \u00e1rbol tiene un tronco muy ramificado, hojas largas y frutos de color naranja. Su savia roja, la llamada \u00absangre de drago\u00bb, la usaban los antiguos habitantes de las islas como remedio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"371\" src=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-64.png\" alt=\"Drago canario de copa ancha y densa, adaptado al clima seco de las islas\" class=\"wp-image-143439\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-64.png 960w, https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-64-300x116.png 300w, https:\/\/canariaslife.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-64-768x297.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hoy, el Drago Milenario de Icod est\u00e1 en el centro de una campa\u00f1a, impulsada por \u00c1lvaro Fajardo, que busca su reconocimiento como <strong>Naturerbe der Menschheit<\/strong>.
